We The People of the United States of America know that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, third in the line of succession to the Presidency, wants to remove our duly-elected President from office. She has made her wishes clearly known, with a congratulatory fist bump on “Real Time with Bill Maher”, gilded pens that will become valuable possessions sold at Christie’s, and the physical destruction of our nation’s State of the Union Address that belongs in the National Archives.
Lots of We The People applaud Nancy Pelosi. Lots of We The People criticize her. Lots of We The People question her mental health.
Is Nancy Pelosi on a crusade to protect We The People from a President who committed an impeachable offense, or is she on a crusade led by Don Quixote?
On February 7, 2020, Nancy Pelosi answered this question by authoring an article published at washingtonpost.com. Her article is titled “Nancy Pelosi: McConnell and the GOP Senate are accomplices to Trump’s wrongdoing”. In her article, she declares “the American people have watched President Trump and Republicans in Congress dismantle the Constitution that we cherish. … For weeks, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and the Republican-controlled Senate have made themselves accomplices to the president’s wrongdoing … Sadly, because of the Republican Senate’s betrayal of the Constitution, the president remains an ongoing threat to American democracy.”
On February 7, 2020, Nancy Pelosi declared that every Republican Senator (except Mitt Romney) has committed an impeachable offense that should result in his or her removal from office.
What does this mean for We The People? What does this mean for the United States of America? What does this mean for the Separation of Powers? What does this mean for democracy? What does this mean for One Person, One Vote? What does this mean for No Person Is Above The Law? What does this mean for the Senate? What does this mean for the House of Representatives? What does this mean for the Constitution?
What does it mean when the person who is third in the line of succession to the Presidency physically destroys the State of the Union Address and declares that our President and every Senator who is not a member of her Party (except Mitt Romney) should be removed from office?
Nancy Pelosi rightly notes that our Founding Fathers feared a king. Didn’t they equally fear a queen?
