“Follow the money.” It’s the lesson that FBI Associate Director Mark Felt (known as “Deep Throat”) taught to the Fourth Estate, enabling it to shine the light of truth on the darkness surrounding Watergate.
Surely the lesson is not unique to Nixon. Surely the lesson is timeless. Surely the lesson applies to the darkness surrounding the election of President Donald J. Trump.
President Trump’s opponents blame him for the darkness; his supporters blame his opponents. Each person’s perception is his reality, because the Fourth Estate has not applied the lesson, has not followed the money. The Fourth Estate has left We The People in the dark. Why?
We don’t know why. We are left with questions.
Why has the Fourth Estate not applied the lesson by following the money?
Why has the Fourth Estate replaced Mark Felt’s lesson with Naomi Klein’s lesson in her book “The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism”?
Why does the Fourth Estate shock us every minute of every day with “news” that predicts the existential threat of darkness forever, that declares our government dysfunctional, that divides us into opposing camps of them versus us?
Why does the Fourth Estate ever-increasingly report the “news” using the language of Nazi, racist, treason, protest, resist, impeach, and Deep State?
Why does the Fourth Estate ever-increasingly sound like Bolsheviks, Maoists, and Black Panthers?
If We The People want answers to the above questions, shouldn’t we ask the following questions?
Why does the Fourth Estate rely on an “inner circle” of partisan pundits rather than on its own independent research of original verified data?
Is the Fourth Estate’s profit margin enhanced by non-stop round-the-clock “reporting” about elections that won’t take place for years?
Why don’t We The People follow the money?
