America’s “Procedures for Entering the United States” is on its web page “How to Enter the United States”. [usa.gov] What procedures did our Founding Fathers have to follow? What procedures did the Pilgrims and Wernher von Braun have to follow?
“The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight”. [U.S. Constitution Article I, Section 9] Why not until 2808?
On our Statute of Liberty, we say “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.” What do we mean?
If you move into a new housing development in a community that “suits you to a T”, do you want to prevent the community from becoming overbuilt with more new housing developments? Did the people who lived in the community before you feel the same way?
If your mother moves to America with you when you’re an infant, and she violates the law in so doing, should America deport your mother and you when it finds out three decades later? What if your mother is deceased? What if your mother is alive and you’ve become a citizen through marriage, a naturalized citizen? What if your mother had another child while in America, a natural born citizen?
How important Is vetting? Were all Hawaiians and Alaskans vetted when Hawaii and Alaska became States? Were all prisoners brought from England to populate Georgia vetted when it became a State? What about Africans brought to America as slaves?
How did Cochise, Sitting Bull, and Geronimo feel about immigration?
Who has the right to say who can live in America? Politicians?
Who owns America? Does anybody own America?
